I think you'll find that, for the most part that particular error is generally associated with a hardware device driver issue, so......
The first thing you probably need to do is secure the latest drivers available for all your integrated hardware devices, either from the PC Manufacturer's, Motherboard Manufacturer's or specific Hardware Manufacturer's website, including BIOS, Chipset, Storage Controllers, Video, Audio, Network, etc.
And make sure that during the upgrade process your computer is as minimal as possible regarding third party peripherals..... unplug them all.... printers, any USB Dongles, etc., etc. Just use a monitor and USB wired keyboard and mouse.
AND
Uninstall completely any third party security suites you may have installed.
