Upgrades Don't Take

In late December, my Win10 very laboriously downloaded and installed Win10 Pro v1511 10586 and afterwards declared 'Device is up to date', only to do the same again in February, with the same verdict. When I type 'Winver' into the Command prompt, it keeps giving the same result before and after upgrades : 10240. What could be going wrong ?
