I left my computer on and when I came back, the Windows 10 upgrade was in progress. When I restarted the computer, a WDF Violation message appeared on the screen. Unplugged the computer several times, and kept getting the same message. Placed the recovery CD into the CD/DVD drive, nothing happened. When I restarted the computer, the screen is now blank...no message, no response...it's like the computer died....what happened?

Unplugged the computer several times
Probably not an optimal means of resolving the issue
it's like the computer died....what happened?
See above.

A Windows Driver Foundation error is ..... just that... a driver problem.
You've included no information what so ever regarding the computer itself, so....
Some specifics as to the manufacturer name, model name, model number etc., etc., might be helpful
My first suggestion would be to unplug all peripherals any USB Dongles attached to the computer that support wireless networking and or wireless keyboards and mice, even USB printers.
Get the hardware down to just a monitor, USB wired keyboard and USB wired mouse that's all.
See if you can then power up the machine and finish the installation.

Failing that, you're going to need to obtain the installation media from here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench
Choose Windows 10, the first item in the first drop down (not single language at the bottom)
Next choose your language and your bit version (32 or 64 bit to match your system architecture or in the case of an upgrade, to match your currently installed version of Windows).
That will provide an ISO that will upgrade, repair (or clean install) either or both Windows 10 Pro and Home.
Once you have downloaded the ISO you can use ImgBurn to burn it to a DVD http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
OR
Rufus to burn it to a USB ThumbDrive http://rufus.akeo.ie/
When you've managed to boot from the installation media you need to click the Repair Your PC link on the second page after the Choose a Language and Keyboard layout page.
That should get you to the Advanced Troubleshooting options. From there see if you can use the "Startup settings" option to boot the system into safe mode.
