Windows 10 black screen

I completed the upgrade to windows 10 but after getting the windows logo my laptop screen goes completely blank and sits there. If i plug in an external monitor to the vga output I see the desktop and can log in to windows. I cant get anything to display on my laptop screen however.

Generally on laptops there is a Fn key on the bottom left of the computer's keyboard and using that in association with one of the top row of "F" keys (often F2) there maybe a icon on the Fkey with a screen....
Will generally allow you to switch from the laptop screen, to an external monitor, to both.
If that does not work then perhaps you will need to install the manufacturer's utility that supports those functions
