Yesterday I had what I understood to be a Microsoft message stating there was an update for my Windows 10 installation. I followed the instructions which involved clearing some space and allowing access to a 500gb USB disk (i.e. not a USB stick).
I then let the installation proceed and was eventually presented with the login screen. But.... the login screen fails to accept my password. I am 99.9%+ sure it's correct because I have to use it once per week when updates are completed.
I have tried all combinations ( Caps ON/OFF) and can not get beyond the front screen - i.e. I can do nothing (I am using a LINUX laptop to complete this). A message is displayed to reset password but then I am told that I should have created something on a USB stick previously (not exactly helpful).
Just no idea what has happened and what to to do.
I believe this was a genuine Microsoft update which has corrupted my system
