DVDs used to play automatically when loaded into my DVD drive, but for some reason Windows Media Player is now allocated (shown when I open the contents of a disc). To play a DVD I now have to manually start the App to get it to find the DVD.
I have gone into control panel and Windows DVD Player is shown as the default for playing DVDs.
Can anyone solve this ?

It may have something to do with file associations...instead of getting into the mucky muck of digging into the innards may I suggest simply using a player that will do everything media related and it doesn't talk back,I switched when I first upgraded to 10 and haven't looked back.Windows DVD Player has been buggy from the onset and with MS's infinite wisdom on removing the DVD playability in Media Player one really only has one choice and that is to find the best 3rd party media player available,in my humble opinion..PotPlayer fits that bill...give it try.

Thanks Bif. I have downloaded potplayer and agree that it looks good. However, I still cant see how to associate my DVD drive with it to automatically play when DVDs are inserted.

I wish I could help you with the autoplay issue but alas I'm a victim of this in 10 as well despite having autoplay set for to automatically open SD media,USB media and the like..I actually posted on this forum a week or so ago with this same issue and as of yet, there doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason as to why it's not working.
For what it's worth Roger give these links a try (if you already haven't) and see if it works for you...it failed to work for myself.
Best of luck and please post back with results, perhaps someone else on here can shed some light.

Thanks for your message, Bif. I have just discovered that new firmware is available for my DVD writer, and after downloading and installing it, the problem appears to be resolved.
