Windows reset fails

Earlier today I tried to uninstall Avast antivirus. After the unintallation, Avast prompted me to restart my pc. After this, my pc continuously fails to launch; the startup repair tool tries to fix the problem, but fails. When I try to reset the pc or revert to windows 7, a message appears which says that "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made". Since I upgraded from 7, I have no installation media to try and repair the system. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks!
