Hi Stephen,

Have you tried right-clicking the KiesSetup.exe and selecting Run as administrator?

OK,

Try temporarily turning off the Smart Screen filter then:
  • Click Start > Settings > Privacy

    Smart Screen Filter.png

  • Now try again to right-click on KiesSetup.exe and Run as administrator
  • If a warning pops up about Smart Screen not being able to reach X, click Run this application anyway

If that resolves the problem, do not forget to turn Smart Screen Filer back on afterwards.

Had tried this and now tried again without success. Appreciate your assistance.

Hmm,

If you right-click the KiesSetup.exe and choose Properties is there an option to Unblock?

What source did you use for the installer.
I just downloaded it from here http://www.samsung.com/sg/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/ using Internet Explorer (not edge).....
And it installed without issue

This is were I initially downloaded file from. Upon installation (about half way through) got error message "system can not find file specified). Contacted Samsung (twice) resulting in being given this url for download (http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_CA&CttFileID=5417969&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-T959D&VPath=SW/201304/20130429233319596/KiesSetup.exe) This download I get publisher not trusted message.

Ain't life grand ...

Hi Stephen,

Just downloaded your Installer from the location you gave.

I got the same Block message, but found a way to avoid that:
  • Right-click on Start
  • Left-click on Command Prompt (Admin)

Now you just need to change directory to where the KiesSetup.exe file is.

For example if you downloaded it to your Downloads folder then type:

cd %userprofile%\downloads | then press Enter

Then just type KiesSetup.exe | and press Enter

So what are the W 10's like?

I've got an old Lumia lying around somewhere but ditched it for a Samsung as there was not enough apps at the time for my Windows phone.

This blocked app thing is a nuisance. My W10 machine flatly refused to download some drivers from Dlink as it said it did not trust the publisher. I think I'd like a method to turn off ALL that stuff.

Was able to start installation, but it then came up with error "The System cannot find the file specified"
I sure appreciate everyone's contributions. Can't imagine where to go from here. I agree with Tim, it would be nice to be able to turn All that stuff off.

Again, thank you All !
