:(Hi guys. I hope this request has not been posted earlier as I do not wish to duplicate threads.

I have a good old Dell XPS 420,approx 9 yrs old computer which has various mechanical updates installed over time (2xdrives 2 terrabytes each, 2x cd/dvd drives, 8gb ram etc) On changeover to Windows 10 pro x64bit, the only driver issue I had/have is I could not acquire a W10 driver for the "MiniView device" installed.

It worked on Windows 7 previously.
Any ideas where I can acquire one, if possible? Please do not say DELL. Nightmare site! :D

Hi Mothie, yea, only the Dell site...

Seriously now...

I've no idea what device that is, I swore years ago never to buy from Dell under pain of immediate death.

But I do have a couple of questions.

When you installed Windows 10 did you install the Intel Chipset INF files?
Can you open device manager right clik on the device and select tab details scroll dow two tcks copy and paste that info and post back in your reply, would you?

See example of what Im looking for

That image you posted it tells me all devices are installed but doesn't answer the questions asked.

So I'll assume your original question is answered and @Wolfie's suggestion you installed the Miniview Driver. (Which I looked up and is a small screen on the Computer), if that's correct then feel free to ignore my original questions and mark thread as solved ;)

:( I could find nothing in device manager that resembled your item, therefore, I went for the files you suggested with the attached results after an intel scan of my system, with the attached results:-

Wolfie,Hi.
Reference in these sites follows a pattern of register, SCAM,in other words, BUY<BUY<BUY etc.
Already have a purchased driver updater and it has not found item I need.
I believe it is one of the items that DELL:mad:, conveniently must have dropped in it's infinite usual lack of wisdom.
Therefore, as it does not inconveniece me as such, I will just forget the whole exercise.
Many thanks for your assistance. Greatly appreciated.:)

I could find nothing in device manager that resembled your item,

What I posted was only an example of the type of steps to follow, I guess that was only obvious to me ;) Since My PC is not even a Dell. Next time I'll know to be more clear.

Now
  1. Right click the unknown device
  2. Goto Details tab
  3. Select the property drop down and navigate to Device ID
  4. Right click on the details it shows > Select all > Copy
  5. And paste the results on your reply.
  6. Rinse and repeat for the Miniview device
Then we can look for a driver for you if any exists.

OH and yes, remove the solved tag, theres nothing solved :)

OK, after some looking around Im suspecting your unknown device is due to not having installed the chipset INF files. Because your chipset is now obsolete the only alternative is modified 3rd party INF files.

But rather than just guessing around on what you have installed and or not installed or wondering, its best to get a full report instead and decide then what best approach would be.

Grab the HWINFO from https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php for your system, either 32/64-bit (if you have 64-bit OS please get the HWINFO64-bit (portable OK), else get 32-bit
It will be interesting in what it spits out...

Then save the report to , text file or HTML also OK
hwinfo.PNG

Then attach file to reply...

Then wait for the Gremlins to process information you posted, make a sandwich and buy beers all-round. ;)

@Mothie

Close all the dialogs in front except for the big main HWINFO window and save the report like I showed above :)

@Mothie

Let me ask again, what you just posted is of no use unfortunately its unrelated to what I asked, that is HWINFO.ini settings file contents.

1. click the save report button
on HWINFO
HWINFO MAIN.PNG

A Dialog will pop up

2. On export format ->
Leave default as Text Logfile and CLICK Browse
hwinfo2.PNG

3. Select DEKTOP as location and type a name for log and CLICK Save
savetohwinfo.PNG

Now all the results will be saved to file as request.

4. Attach that file to you next reply.

 My dearData.
The version that I downloaded, as per instructions, was the portable version.
What appears upon my screen is as above, previously shown. We have a disturbance in the force somewhere here.

:) Not to worry my friend, I can not move any further on this as we appear to have different files/downloads.
The MiniViewer has not worked properly since Vista, it lights up but goes no further in operation.
I therefore consider it non essential. Just a preference for having all things functioning correctly.

I will now mark this as finished.
I am extremely greatful for your help on this matter Data, please believe me.
Thank you sincerely.
Mothie.

:oops:Could not understand why I was not getting the screen you were showing to me,therefore re downloaded the application as an exe file (not portable), started it with setup face as it came and ended up with the above.
Is this what you meant,Data? If so, how long do I let it run?
