I am on the verge of giving up because I have tried every method of enabling file history but no luck. I have followed advice from Microsoft , who never seem to understand what they are being asked so I may as well stop wasting my time and their time,
Any advice from forum members would be appreciated

I tried MS File History and I find it a useless resource hog. Personally, I think you would be better off using the native "Back Up and Restore" Than File History. Just my opinion.

There are many excellent free 3rd party back up programs to choose from. I use Aomei for regular incremental backups. Aomei Backupper will also create system images if you choose to do so.

thanks for your quick response. I agree with what you say about back ups and some of the Microsoft win 10 programs are not as clever as one expects them to be. I shall try some of the back up programs you suggest
