Hello,

I am unable to access files on my NAS from my Surface Pro 4 (which makes the SP4 pretty much useless to me).

I WAS able to do so yesterday. Suddenly, I can't, and have no idea what changed.

There have been no auto updates to my Surface Pro, as it has not been connected to the internet.

Everything continues to work fine from my Windows 8.1 computer.

Environment:

Windows 10:
Microsoft Surface Pro 4:
Synology NAS
ASUS AC68U Router

In the past, when the SP4 was booted, it failed to reconnect network drives.

I always had to open File Explorer, and provide id (admin) and password.

Now, however, I am informed that the password is incorrect.

That is false. The password IS correct.

From the SP4, I can access the NAS via browser (using the same login and password).

I'm extremely frustrated with Windows 10 (in general, it seems to me that Microsoft did a horrifically bad job with connectivity and security).

Any help appreciated.

MORE DETAILS

I'm rather ignorant regarding Windows networking.

Setup:

I have a tower computer (windows 8.1), and a Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

The tower is connected, via ethernet, to an ASUS AC68U router.

The Surface Pro 4 uses only wireless connectivity.

The Router is connected (ethernet) to a Synology NAS.

I have been using both the tower and the surface to access NAS files (via File Explorer).

On both machines, I set up mapped networked drives, of the form:

\\192.168.1.151\Foo

They have been working fine (except that on the Surface, connection to the network drives has failed on boot up; I must provide login ID and password to File Explorer every time I boot up).

THE PROBLEM

Suddenly, for some reason, on the Surface Pro, I am unable to access the NAS via mapped drives.

One of two things happens:

1)

In File Explorer, I am asked to enter network credentials.

I am informed that the password is incorrect.

OR

2)

I get this message:

An error occurred while reconnecting V: to \\blahblah...

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

The Synology NAS has a browser based GUI.

I CAN connect to the NAS from the Surface using the browser.

I use the same login ID and password for browser and File Explorer.

On my Tower (Window 8.1), all continues to work fine.

My mapped drives continue to work.
