I downloaded windows a few weeks ago for my laptop. Ever since then, each time I try to get on my laptop it is locked and requires a password. I never had it locked prior as I live alone and do not take it anywhere. I have reset this password numerous times, but tonite, I changed it 5 times, and then went to enter new password, which of course did not work. I am totally frustrated, as I need to access my computer. Any idea on how to fix this??

Do you have a second account on that computer (another user account) that you can use to log on with?
IF not then you are going to minimally need the installation media to boot the system.
From there you should be able to use the repair your pc link on the second page to avail yourself of some of the advanced troubleshooting options.
Personally, I would try a System Restore first, to an earlier point in time before the most recent round of password changing.

The installation media can be obtain through either of these two resources.

OR

Once you have the ISO, you can use ImgBurn to burn it to a DVD or Rufus to burn it to a USB ThumbDrive, either of which you can use to boot your computer.

Thanks for the info, but I just kept trying and for some odd reason it took a random pin which I had never assigned. I then proceeded to uninstall and revert to original windows that I had prior. I do not have time to deal with being locked out of my own computer. Who ever designed this system really has no common sense. People should have the option of whether or not they want to have their computer locked. I uninstalled it rather than take a chance of being locked out again and have to do a system restore.

What happened to me, I got to the enter password and no password I ever used with Windows or Microsoft would work. I could get to the Restore -Trouble shoot page and did a clean install . That got it working again, luckily I backed up all my programs on a USB Flash drive, reinstall was purity easy. Except the game I was playing had to be reloaded from disk. I might add that if you do a clean install you lose the ability to go back to your old OS, if you have your old OS disk the point is moot. Seance then I read that clearing your CMOS will clear your passwords. I never tried so I don't know if that is really true. (I've cleared my CMOS but not to delete passwords) If you try this consult your owners manual for your motherboard. If you don't have one you can find one online.

Good Luck, I hope This Helps ! ! !
