SOLVED Lots of blank word docs open when I start up

With the last update I now find multiple blank word docs opening on my screen on start up. At one point I had an excel doc open as well. I did something and the excel stopped opening but for the life of me I can figure out what I did to stop it. Any help would be appreciated. I have Windows 10 Home/ Version 10.0.16299 MS-7846
I am new to this forum process so I apologize for a newbie lack of knowledge.
