Lots of Websites down!

If you're getting "connection failure", "Error 503 Service Unavailable", "Service Unavailable" or "Guru Mediation" errors when visiting websites this morning, it looks like there's a HUGE problem with a CDN (content delivery network) which underpins the backend of lots of websites. This means that a ton of large websites are no longer working!

Thankfully this site is unaffected, but you may notice problems when browsing large sites today. Hopefully this will be resolved ASAP and I'm sure we'll be reading about it in the news in the coming hours.

I have noticed that irrespective of which browser used,Edge,Firefox,Opera etc; on trying to play news item video's, non are functioning.
In other words,videos will not play. Is this the problem referred to?

It should be fixed now, it was due to a problem with a company called "Fastly" that powers lots of big sites:

Massive internet outage hits websites including Amazon, gov.uk and Guardian

Technical problem traced to network run by Fastly brings some sites down entirely

If you're still having problems, it may be something else unfortunately.
