Mail 10 How to change recipient's name from his email address to common name

Though I have received multiple emails from him, Mail always shows his email address rather than his name. I tried adding him to contacts in People but that doesn't show up in Mail.

Not sure how much control you have over what name you see in the "From" column in your inbox when people send you email.
That is pretty much dictated by how the person configures the "Your name" text box when you setup your account.
