IF I had to hazard a guess, I would suspect either too many background tasks running resulting in available system resources being overwhelmed
OR
Just an under powered machine generally.
Perhaps some specifics about your particular computer might help.....
Manufacturer's Name, Model Name, Model number, etc.,
How it's equipped....Processor, Memory, Video Card, Hard Disk size and available free space, speed in RPMs (5400 versus 7200 or greater) or SSD.
That's not much information to go on, but.....

Mine is doing the same thing suddenly. Just started it today. Has run perfectly fast up to now. Did you get the issue fixed? Should I reinstall the Solitaire collection? I've paid the annual fee for it.
