no wifi after upgrade even after usual fix

Thanks for the link. Looks like a handy step by step troubleshooting reference. So.....

Fixed or still not working??
Some information on the actual computer?
Manufacturer name, Model Name, Model Number (complete model number including any extraneous numbers making it a specific model).
The network adapter you are having trouble with?
Manufacturers name, Model Name, etc., etc.
The actual hardware ID from device manager properties?

after reading, started out with easy stuff, on my (i use 'personal') firewall, fiddled with it, turned it off, allowed all traffic etc, nothing worked,

next i uninstalled it & bingo, wifi came alive, or more accurate got on the net,

turned out some kinda conflict came up with the firewall with the upgrade from win 7 where it worked fine,

the uninstall seemed to hang with ~ 10 secs left showing but eventually completed. i'm talking a minute or 2,

i'm on a dell sff 960 c2q
