I have tried START BUTTON, PERSONALISATION, THEMES, CHECKING THE RECYCLE BOX, APPLY....... this did not work.

I have tried going to the C Drive and looking in the list. No luck.

I have nothing on the Desktop Apps listing (in fact, I have nothing starting with Q or R)....is this weird?

I have tried searching for it in Cortana.

I have a lot of stuff there I want to delete because my C drive is filling up with unwanted deleted files.

Any further help gratefully accepted.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series laptop, just a few months old.

Welcome to forums SandraB

Quick fix, right click on C: drive > Properties > Disk Cleanup and run that.

Else look and see if you have tablet mode on and disable it and try what you tried before.

Do you have other desktop icons showing?
IF not then right click a blank area of the desktop and in the context menu that is produced, choose View -> Desktop Icons

Open the File explorer again.
Click the View tab at the top. Click (Far right) "Options", then "View"
Uncheck "Show hidden files, folders and drives"
UNcheck " Hide protected operating system files " (Click "Yes " to the question in the popup) - Apply, then OK

Now open File Explorer again. Then open C: drive.
Right up at the top will be "$Recycle.Bin"
Right click it and " Open"
Now, at the top, you will see the recycle bin.
Right click it and select "Send to"
"Click "desktop (create shortcut)"
It should now be showing on the desktop
For you future safety, return to the folder options, select "View" and check the box " Hide protected operating system files", and
OK.
