reorder photos

I am trying to reorder photos, When I reorder in groups (ie a=A's B's etc and go to save the renumbered photos are saved but the order is random.

Where precisely are you attempting to re-order photos?

Within the Windows OS the default for any folder is alphabetical order

They are currently in Onedrive. I can move them around and then rename in small groups. Ie set them in the order that I want then rename them A and they will rename A1. A2 A3 etc. I can them move to the next group and do the same and get B1, B2, B3, etc. I can do this for several groups but when I save the order is random or as I suspect in the original order yet the new numbering system is intact. Ie D5,A6,B2 etc. I recall reading that ther is a "save in new order" tab but I have not found it in file explorer.
