What do you mean that it disappears (is it there when you boot up then it just vanishes or it's not there at boot up but was at one time). I'm no expert , so if I'm writing out of ignorance forgive me. It's just that no one else is trying to help you. When you say tool box I'm assuming you mean lower right taskbar (that's where my speaker volume icon is). Is there any icon there at all or describe where your tool box is ?

Click the Start Button, click Settings, click System, left column click Notifications & Actions, right pane click Turn system icons on or off
Make sure "Volume" is "On".
It should also be indicating that it is "On" under the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" as well.
