Stuck after update - personalised Settings?

I did the latest update and now every time I try to login I see a black screen with a grey small box called personalized settings in the left corner, and it does not move from here!

I have tried
1) Manual reboot (3 times now)
2) putting the computer in flight mode
3) ctrl alt del is not working

Any other ideas?

have you tried booting into safe mode and see if you can run repair tools (functions) from there?:
