Can you provide some specifics as to your computer?
Manufacturer's Name, Model Name, Complete Model Number?
Which update caused your issue? Which update did you uninstall to resolve it?

It seems many folks are having such a problem. Possibly some network settings have been modified and simply need to be corrected.

I suppose there may also have been some type of security change which would be a little harder to find.

What we need is for someone having the problem to try working it thru. Maybe we could find the actual problem. Trouble is pretty good and networking situations.

Hi, I've updated twice with the newest one (KB3124200) & both times I'm unable to see the start menu & the internet will not load.

https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=49&system=8
try the 2.1.0.21 version driver from there
Save it to a new folder on your desktop and extract the contents of the zip file and manually install the driver
Driver Install - Manual Method

  1. Download the driver and extract it to a folder.
  2. Open the Device Manager.
  3. Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device.
  4. Choose Update Driver Software.
  5. Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
  6. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  7. Select Have disk...
  8. Select Browse..
  9. Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
  10. Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.
L1C63x86.inf for 32 bit system architecture
AND
L1C63x64.inf for 64 bit system architecture

It's a Windows 8 driver and apparently the latest available for that Atheros chipset on your network adapter.

I don't know what happened except that when I had the errors I documented them & sent them to microsoft. It might just be a coincidence but when I shut down last evening I could not stop it from updating. I got up this am & the PC is working fine so far. I did not get a chance to use the suggestion you sent but I will keep the info if I need it in the future.
Thank You for your replies & have a Happy New Year',
K.C.
