High Wolfie thanks for your response and will certainly try and explain more clearly.
I f I have an open window on screen and require to open another program, at present it opens below the already showing window. What I need is for this window to open above and not below the already window showing.
I am made to believe this is called "Window always open on top".

It should do it by default. But I read that several users are now experiencing the same as you. Maybe a future update will fix it?
You can, of course, just click the windows you want active to bring it to the front, or click it in the taskbar.
Presumably, you have not altered any settings on the right click of the taskbar?

davehc, Windows 10 Home, all updates installed. Tried cascade, this worked until a computer restart, then error current.

Sorry - not thinking. Those settings would only apply, anyway, whilst you are actively using the desktop. A reboot etc will require you to reselect them. Check Wolfies suggestion as to your version. The link given is a little out of date, but:
Right click the Windows icon and select "Run"
Type Winver in the box.
You should see this (With the latest version)

Check your updates for additional (optional) updates, you may have to click them to download them as some are not automatic!. ;)

I have the same build as Dave's!:

Dave, Windows updated and installed latest update 1909 OS build 18363.752 on my computer.
For the time being, I can now open several windows in a session with last window opened showing on top.

I am afraid that I do not use multi screens on my monitor screen, or should I say have no need to do so.
It is the "always on top", cause of finding how to do so. This error was easy to sort when I used
windows 7. As said, it appears having to wait until uncle Microsoft decides to do so.

No. Another error in Edge is how to set window open at set address in the address bar. Set to open as BBC.com but opens with MSN.com. What is required to change this.

Not an error in edge. Open the settings by clicking the three dots top right and selecting "Settings" Scroll down to "on Start up" and copy and paste the BBC address in the line requested.
