It is surprising what is under the cover with builds. I have no ide how much development there was, in the early stages. Probably just stabs at new items, in isolation. But the first builds were in the year 2000.
And yes. The builds did not follow sequentially. The only one after the first was indeed 9926

Well, I did the usual. Made the ISO from the ESD and did a fresh install. In the past, there have been bugs reported in upgrades, which were not experienced in the fresh installs. So far, with mine, I haven't found any weird problems with either.

So you are saying that MS has spent 15 years developing Windows 10 and it is still not perfected? o_O

MS is trying new ideas they haven't tried before, like square tires. I heard they are even replacing the steering wheel with a touch interface and voice commands with some chick named Cortana in the drivers seat.

I bet that 2000 date is the start of the OS that turned into Windows 8.
In a positively literal sense it was.... Windows 2000 Pro (workstation) morphed into XP and so on, but.....
I'm trying to remember in 2000 what I was using at the time in the way of a
Mobile First, Cloud First, Windows as a Service world that Satya Nadella keeps referring to now and while I am old and my memory is not what it once might have been, I'm drawing a blank.

Here is a thought. Will this forum get quieter as people get the update to 10586 ( which we should really call 1511)
Fewer bugs, more quirky hardware having working drivers etc.

it will certainly be interesting to watch and see.
Hopefully they will drop the ISO so folks still waiting to upgrade will have that as a resource to upgrade from rather than 10240.
I've personally been waiting for it to do my clean install from. I've been setting on this upgrade since July which has been working pretty well but..... It's time for me to bite the bullet and do it right.

Well, I made the ISO from the Install.esd., and then tried a fresh install. No probs.

But, as we know, there is no guarantee between now and the official ISO release, that this will not have some minor touch ups.

Not entirely, perhaps. After Windows 7, it was a rather dramatic jump with a new GUI arrangement and new facilities. Since Vista, or, at worst, Windows 8. Very little has changed. If you scan the depths of Windows 8 files, and compare with Windows 10, a majority of DLLs etc are unchanged. ie.. We have been conned. - covering up for the reaction to Windows 8!!

I do not think it will, users will still have issues win Windows 10. Not everyone jumped on the bandwagon on 7.29 some users may wait 6 to 9 months to upgrade to Windows 10. As far As Windows 2000 Pro, it was one if not the most stablest OS ever made.

Agreed. And....
The first time we saw Plug and Play emerge on an NT Kernel OS..... very nice.

I agree re W2000. We ported an OLTP system to Windows 2000 from DEC Vaxes and at one point had nearly 2000 terminals ( green screen 24*80 at 9600 bps) connected and in use at once on a W2000 server in 2001-2006 I don't remember any problems with the O/S...we did keep it uptodate of course
