I don't have access to a Professional installation at the moment, and Microsoft have a habit of changing Group Policies from time to time, however in theory it is possible to run Bitlocker without TMP by doing the following:
Log on to Desktop using an account belonging to the Administrative Group
Press Windows key and R key together to open run dialog
In the Run dialog type gpedit.msc then click OK
In the Local Group Policy Editor that opens, on the left pane click to expand to this location:
Computer Configuration
> Administrative Templates
> Windows Components
> Bit Locker Drive Encryption
From this expanded list click to select Operating System Devices.
Now on the right pane double-click “Require additional authentication” at startup.
In the box that opens select Enabled radio button and ensure that under Options section the Allow Bit Locker without a compatible TPM checkbox is checked.
