windows 10 shutdown

Windows 10 wont shutdown normal , have to hold down power button

Hello Fred and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried right clicking the Windows Logo (bottom left of screen) and choosing the shut down command from there?
Does that work?
Have you tried from an elevated command prompt typing
shutdown /s /t 0
does that work?

After I posted the problem I tried shutting it down last night and worked .
don't know why tried it a dozen times prior monitor went off but computer kept running had to hold the power
button down to shut it off.

Sometimes it works right and shuts down quickly - other times it hangs in sleep mode and I have to unplug ... can't figure it out

My shutdown works but it restarts all the time.Does not matter how it is shutdown, same t hing, it restarts
