Was just reading this....
http://betanews.com/2015/10/15/microsoft-now-uses-windows-10s-start-menu-to-display-ads/
So I fired up my machine with the latest build on it and found this

ADs.PNG

Microsoft says that they are not advertisements but simply suggestions to enhance the "Windows Experience".
IDK.... just good to know that you can turn them off.
At least you can now.

As long as items suggested are from Windows Store, I have no objection.
In fact, it might turn out to be useful. To me, that is.
The list in Windows Store is so huge, I never bother to go over them.
I could have missed a great app.

And when it turns into .....
Maytag washing machines from Sears or Nike Cross Trainers from Amazon.com.
It appears to be apps..... for now..... but it doesn't say Suggested Apps, it just says "Suggested".

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Even in the worst case scenario, one more item listed on the left side can hardly stir my reaction.
As long as only one item at a time.
MS has to make some money, some way. We get a freebie on Win 10. Cut MS some slacks. Quid pro quo.

RE : MS has to make some money, some way
It's truth.
No matter how big an enterprise is, making money is the prime objective.
An enterprise must search many different venue to try to make money.
