Anyone have a fix for this?

CCleanerCannotRun.png

Windows build 1607 and CCleaner 5.16
And no downloading the most recent version (v5.25) doesn't help. The installer gives the same error and doesn't even try to install. At least the removal process worked a treat, CCleaner 5.16 is no longer on my system. With no possible way of putting it back on. Compatibility mode and run as administrator failed to help as well.

Sorry.... it's been a long time since I have actually installed Ccleaner on any computer.
I always download the portable version and keep it on a thumb drive and just run it whenever I need to
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/portable

When ever a newer version comes out, I usually wait a day or two and they make the portable version available.
Extract the zip file and you have both 32 and 64 bit flavors to choose from.

I should have mentioned I had it working on a previous install, which was the very same build. So I know it is the install that has a glitch.

Have you checked your registry for any left over strings of CC after the uninstall? I'd start there.

Just read some comments on piriform.

It seems that, in many cases, the windows compatibility client rejects "CCleaner_5.25.exe", but not "ccsetup"

Clifford I just had a similar problem, same message. I have been running CCleaner forever. It seems to me that after the last update you have to install the 5.25 64 bit version with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Very strange problem??

have the last update. I was running ver 24 successfully. Checked for updates. On Piriforms site it said some had experienced compatibility problems, and the remedy was to update to ver 25.

"Windows 10 Compatibility Issues

A small number of users who try to use old versions of CCleaner in the latest Windows 10 update are being told that CCleaner is '..not compatible with this version of Windows'. The version of Windows 10 which is affected is 14393.576.
Fortunately this issue is easily resolved by downloading and reinstalling CCleaner from the following links:
- If you're a Free user, please download CCleaner from the following link:

www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download"

Although I had no problems, I did this, and ver 25 also ran smoothly.
Not sure about the 64/32 bit suggestion. I have not , at least for a long time, seen a 32Bit. I believe the program is compatible with 64 or 32Bit.

Maybe Cliff will come back shortly with his latest experience??

you have to install the 5.25 64 bit version with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
That's just it, trying to install 5.25 give the same error as trying to run 5.16. Even after uninstalling the 5.16 version, the 5.25 installer still give the error notification. Windows 10 absolutely refused to allow the app to run or install.

I've gone back on a system image and have it all working again. If anyone can find a solution though, maybe it will help in the future.

What puzzles me though is not the refusal to allow an application from running. I realize systems break and cause problems. What puzzles me is how this also prevents an application from installing. Almost as if the specific application is intentionally blocked for some reason.

Wait a bit before blaming MS! It did NOT uninstall mine. No tricks, everything on defaults. As so often, it could be a confliction with particular software you are running. But, it most certainly, if that is the case, something that MS should give priority investigation to.

Sorry no fix action here...just additional info regarding CCleaner "Doesn't work..." Windows 10 version 1607 OS Build 14393.693 / 64-bit. Latest updates (KB3211320 installed in 24 Jan 2017) before that was updates on 10 Jan 2017. CCleaner 5.25 is currently installed and is working fine (probably updated sometime in Dec, within a week of release when the update message presents itself.) Just attempted to install 5.26.5937 version and got the "Doesn't work..." message. This is the first time I ever had a problem with CCleaner...

At the moment I to have CCleaner running. But I did run into a glitch of some sort that prevented it from running or installing. And the only thing I could think of was trashing the Windows install and starting over.

UPDATE:01 Feb 2017, just installed the same version that would not install as indicated in my original statement. Unfortunately, I cannot say what it was for certain...no new updates according to my "update history". And it was not a simple rebooting because I did try this during my initial problem. Anywho, just wanted to relay this now "non-issue"??? :) Though, I did download this again this morning when windows told me it was out-of-date. The version # is the same as indicated above but it was a new download...maybe there was an issue in the above one I downloaded.
