Imap with outlook 2010 not working

Overnight Outlook decided to quit working. The server imap.gmail.com does not seem to be available. I do not know whether it's a server issue or a software issue or neither.
I have updated through Win 10 and tried to reinstall outlook with zero success.
Any ideas are appreciated.
