Need help creating desktop icons for programs apps and web pages

New to Windows 10 with my new Dell desktop and am in the process of downloading and installing many of the programs, apps and web pages that I had on my Win 7 pc. Found that some programs and apps can be pinned to the task bar and start menu but wondering if/how to create a desktop icon for them. Any advice would be appreciated.

In File Explorer find the programs' .exe file, right-click it and choose Send to then click Desktop (create a shortcut).

EDIT: I failed to give an answer to the shortcut about Web pages, I usually only need to click on/grab the icon/s to the left of the URL [Address] in the dialog box and drag to the desktop. It will help if the window is resized down so the desktop can be seen to pick an area to release it on.
