no apps box

loaded windows 10, no apps box when left clicking on windows box. I don't think I am getting all the features that are there including windows updates that is on settings. Have helped other family members update to windows 10 and all functions work fine. Have a BioStar TA 970 MB, AMD 8120 CPU, 8Gigs RAm, 240 GB SSD, Geforce GTX 650 TI video card. I also have no Cortana nor does the search window work. Any help?

Sounds like some file corruption somewhere.
Can you try creating a new user (as a member of the local administrator's group, not a standard user) and then log off and back on as the new user to test of the corruption is specific to your user profile or more generally involving system files.
