Online Global Care - cold call

Just been cold called by these people, and spoke to a woman in India who said that they support Windows 10. She said that there was certain malware on my machine and also know my Windows serial number and that they could help me clean up my machine. She took me to a site called TeamViewer and tried to get me to download some software to speak to one of their engineers - at this point I hung up as I don't know if they are legit.

Can anyone shed any light on who these people are?

Scam!!!! Never allow anyone to remote your PC unless you've called them.

Oh dear... Please remember that no one will ever call you up like this.

If a stranger came to your house and wanted access to every room.. would you let them do that? Even if they flashed a business card at you....

Please put the phone down if this ever happens again......

Yes i have had a few of these.
The last one that rang said could i go into a folder to which i replied no not yet as i have only just got my PC and its still in the box.
When i asked if they could stay on the phone while i set it up they hung up.
As said above its a scam.

Thats the way to do it!

What I have done to cold callers is say "Hold on a second" then I place the phone next to the radio......
