Set default app

I want to set a default app by FILE TYPE.
I want to use NOTEPAD.
The only option I have is the default MS selection or to search for one in the store.
How do I set it for an app on my system = NOTEPAD?

The other way to assign it is to open the Control Panel and type 'default' into the search box in the upper right corner. Then click on 'Associate a file type.....'. Find .txt and choose Notepad.
