Set default view for icons

If you've changed the settings in the folder to your desired layout, you can go to the toolbar and select View > Options > "View" tab
You can then click "Apply to Folders" which will apply the current view settings to all folders of the same type (i.e. general files, documents, videos, etc...) by default:
