Sleep mode at startup.

After installation of win 10 on a fairly new HP laptop, when I press the button to turn on nothing much happens, but the start button lights up, and then the start button flashes as though the laptop has gone to sleep straight away before loading windows. If I press the start button again it starts windows properly.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
