Maybe they moved all personnel over to a new creation that is not called Windows. After all Windows 10 is the last version of Windows. I'm not going to assume they going to simply stop with new creations.

But 1703 to 1709 looks to be an underwhelming update, just in the build number alone
Prepare to be continuously underwhelmed.
With their six month update cycle, when RS4 is released it will likely be 1803 followed by 1809 ( March 2018 and September 2018 respectively).

IDK... they seemed to be using it very early on with the first releases of Windows 10 and then switched it slightly from the actual "release date" to the month and date it became feature locked and no new stuff was added. Hence 1709 was feature locked in September of 2017 but we didn't actually get it until October.
You can get a sense of the scheme looking at the table here

Is the Blue text "view configured update policies " clickable?
and if so what is there.

Are you running an Enterprise edition? Logged into a Domain?

I think I see a pattern now. When did they shift to using year and month?
1507 was the first RTM I received but I believe on the Technical Preview [pre-Insider Preview] they used 14xx for a Version, can't recall for sure. Support for 1507 has ended so need those moved up to 1511.

I think it must have been the timing and MS sever overload. Grandsons PC took about the same time to completely install.

I am cleaning up some HDDs and came across a saved Web page someone listed back in Oct. 2014 about their machine and before the naming changed to year and month:
Operating system: Microsoft Windows Technical Preview (version 6.4.9841; build 9841)
Name: Microsoft Windows Technical Preview
Version: 6.4.9841
Build: 9841
Install date: 10/17/2014 12:08:49 PM

The initial release of Windows 10 was indeed the 1507 build 10240, after that the November upgrade
came as 1511 build 10586 followed by the Anniversary upgrade 1607 build 14393 and the creators
upgrade 1703 build 15063 and last but not least the newest 1709 Fall creators upgrade build 16299.15 .
The future builds will follow in a 6 month turn over.....

I have made a DVD label if someone is interested. Feel free to use it, you have my permission.

Well, my upgrade on my main laptop did not go so well. It messed up my video driver and disabled all my gadgets (which I had to reinstall again as well as the video driver). Now I got it back running again like I had it before. At least my Icons in the start menu are where I left them and the taskbar is the same as well.....
Guess I got lucky........

Anyone had issues with the Win key +X or start menu right click menu items not working since the upgrade.
Can no longer access the following Task Manager, Windows PowerShell, Computer management,Disk management, Device manager,Event Viewer and Mobility Centre. Items are displayed but unresponsive.
Any ideas?

Yes i installed one but the other failed and could not get it the second update to retry.
Still had same issue though.
Contacted MS support yesterday and they did a fresh install to 1709 but still got same issue.
Have now rolled back to 1703 as i had a saved image file from a few weeks ago.
All now works well so waiting for the inevitable for the update to 1709 unless i can temporarily delay that until a fix is found.
Cant believe no one else has had this issue yet.
